Adela Rujan

Head of EAL (English as an Additional Language) / Learning Support Coordinator

Ms Adela Rujan has joined Dulwich International High School Zhuhai in August 2022 and has since focused on supporting our students’ English language development across all areas of the curriculum. In addition to this, she also coordinates the Learning Support programme at the school, which aims to include and support students with a range of learning differences to thrive in our school community and beyond. Ms Rujan focuses on developing our Y10 and Y11 students’ language skills through evidence-based curricula in the English as an Additional Language programme, while also collaborating with teachers and leaders across the school to ensure language acquisition is supported across the curriculum through mentoring, guidance and specialised training in EAL. In her Learning Support role, Ms Rujan works closely with students, families and their teachers in creating personalised learning plans to support their educational success.  

Previous to taking on this role, she worked as a founding staff member at an international and bilingual school in Jiangsu Province, where she held a range of leadership roles in EAL, English and Learning Support. Her experience prior to this includes a senior leadership role in an American educational group in China, an Adjunct Instructor role in Presentational Speaking for Syracuse University, and several years of English as a Second Language teaching in Spain. 

With a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Spanish Languages and Literature, a Master’s in Intercultural Communication, advanced teaching qualifications and a National Award in SEN Coordination from the United Kingdom, Ms Rujan brings her vast experience in teaching learners of English as an Additional Language, inclusion and international education leadership.
