Joseph Bishop
Lead Teacher of Biology
Mr Bishop joined Dulwich International High School Programme Hengqin in August 2023.
Originally from Brighton, England, Mr Bishop was raised in the beautiful countryside of Pembrokeshire in West Wales. At 18, he took a gap year and backpacked around China and Australia for 6 months. This highly positive experience was key in his decision to take up a teaching position here at DHHQ.
After spending 5 years at the University of Exeter, completing his BSc, MSc and PGCE (teacher training), Joseph spent his first five years teaching at Wycombe Abbey, Buckinghamshire. Following this he moved back to Devon to teach at Robert Blake Science College and West Buckland School, before deciding to join the Dulwich family. He is thoroughly looking forward to the exciting next step in his teaching journey.
Outside the classroom, Mr Bishop has a wide range of interests, primarily sports or outdoor-related. At each of his previous schools, he led students on Duke of Edingburgh expeditions and various outdoor learning excursions, such as bushcraft, campcraft and climbing. He is also an avid NFL fan, to the point where he became qualified as an American football coach, and he endeavors to introduce the non-contact version of American football to Dulwich (flag football).
Fun Fact - Mr Bishop auditioned for the role of Harry Potter in the popular movie franchise back in 2000. Safe to say, he didn't get the part, but for him, it was an interesting experience in life.
