Kent Chen
Teacher of English and EAL
Mr Chen holds a Master's Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the University of Hong Kong, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of language acquisition and teaching methodology, which he applies diligently in his professional endeavours. This year marks Mr Chen's 12th year in international education, during which he has had the privilege of learning from diverse schools and educators. These experiences have profoundly shaped his approach to EAL and ESL teaching.
Throughout his career, Mr Chen has gained considerable experience with the Cambridge Curriculum, focusing on deconstructing complex course materials to facilitate students' seamless integration into their studies. He places great emphasis on maintaining open and supportive communication with parents. In addition, Mr Chen has honed his skills in EduTech integration and has served as an EduTech trainer, championing the transformative potential of educational technology to increase student engagement and improve learning outcomes.
Beyond the classroom, Mr Chen is deeply committed to outdoor service learning. Each year, he leads students on trips to Nepal, where they contribute to school construction projects, and to Fiji, where they engage in global citizenship initiatives - experiences he believes are crucial to the development of well-rounded individuals.
In his spare time, Mr Chen enjoys exploring China by motorbike and bicycle, and has travelled extensively along the Silk Road.
