Celebrated the 100th day of the New Campus Opening
Today, Dulwich Zhuhai celebrated 100 days since the opening of its new campus on Hengqin Island. It marks a new era for Dulwich Zhuhai to continue its success story in Southern China, building bridges to the world for local students and the community.
Guests from Guangdong-Macau Indepth Cooperation Zone, Zhuhai government, Education in Motion (EiM), Zhuhai Huafa Group and Zhuhai Huafa Education Development Co., Ltd (Huafa Education) attended the ceremony and celebrated with Dulwich Zhuhai’s students, parents, staff and alumni at the new campus.
The bells from the school’s iconic clock tower chimed when representatives from the two education groups ceremonially launched the school’s new chapter in its new Hengqin campus.
Students from Dulwich schools and Dehong sister schools all over the world, including the founding school in London, as well as Huafa Education schools also sent their best wishes via videos, joining with those in Zhuhai to celebrate this milestone for the school.
Upgraded partnership between the two pioneering education groups in the Greater Bay Area
Located in the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area ("the GBA"), Zhuhai is not only a rising star domestically, but also holds international renown as the hometown of Mr Yung Wing, the first Chinese student who studied and graduated from a university abroad. It was Mr Yung Wing who pioneered the pathway for Chinese students to study abroad and initiated the precedent for government-sponsored overseas studies. Established in 2010, Dulwich Zhuhai has been carrying the torch of the legacy left behind by passionate Western and Eastern educators throughout the generations, perpetuating the dream of excellent international and holistic education.
Over the past 11 years, we are proud to have seen hundreds of students finished their journeys at Dulwich Zhuhai and go on to start new ones at world-renowned institutions. I firmly believe that, in its new journey on a new campus, Dulwich Zhuhai will further support students to succeed both academically and holistically, thus becoming an integral part of the future development of China and the world.
With the mission of nurturing its students to Graduate Worldwise, Dulwich Zhuhai has continuously achieved outstanding academic results and has a track record of preparing students to matriculate to prestigious universities around the world. Nine students have achieved the highest honours in the Cambridge International Examinations (CAIE), both globally and in China. Among the 2021 graduates, 97 percent have been offered a place at the top 100 universities according to QS World University Rankings.
In conjunction with the national strategy of the GBA and the launch of the Guangdong-Macao in-depth cooperation zone, there has been increased market demand for a modern and international education zone in Hengqin. Dulwich Zhuhai’s new campus demonstrates Education in Motion and Huafa Education’s common passion and vision for new education opportunities.
We are excited to deepen our partnership with Dulwich in Hengqin, contributing to the development of the international education industry in the Greater Bay Area, and in China.
A modern campus offering rigorous academic curriculum and diverse co-curricular activities
Located in the northwest of Hengqin Island, the 19,600-square-metre new campus can accommodate up to 800 students. It is designed with the concept of integrating the beauty of the traditional “Lingnan” architectures of Southern China and the iconic Dulwich-style British brick buildings. Its campus, bridging Southern Chinese and traditional British architecture, reflects the school’s motto: Detur Pons Mundo (Building Bridges to the World).
The new campus features 30 classrooms, 15 science laboratories, 4 outdoor sports fields, an indoor gymnasium, a 363-seat theatre, a two-storey library and a twin-tower boarding house. The modern facilities and abundant outdoor spaces provide a wide range of diversified learning environment for students, encouraging creativity and teamwork.
As an important part of Dulwich’s holistic education philosophy, new co-curricular activities will be offered from this new academic year, such as equestrianism, rowing and golf. These activities will support students in gaining lifelong knowledge, skills and experience, preparing them well to matriculate to their “best-fit” universities. All programmes are designed to encourage student to embrace the spirits of innovation, leadership, teamwork and pioneering.
Dulwich Zhuhai has started a new journey on its Hengqin campus. Looking ahead, the school will continue to enhance its legacy and make every effort to become the backbone of international education in the Greater Bay Area.
