Annual School Musical: Shrek!
The long-awaited musical was performed at Dulwich Zhuhai just before the winter holidays. Under their teachers' guidance, students presented Shrek the Musical, a much-loved and appreciated New Year's gift.
It's the story of a terrifying green ogre by the name of Shrek, who lives in a swamp. But all of a sudden, the evil Lord Farquaad banishes a bunch of fairy tale creatures to Shrek's swamp. Shrek must go on a quest to save Princess Fiona, along with a fast-talking donkey to get his swamp back.
On the other hand, Princess Fiona has been trapped in a high tower since she was seven years old, and she also carries a terrible spell that turns her into a monster form once the sun goes down.
In the end, when Princess Fiona finds her true love and the curse is lifted, she is not restored to the princess look she wants to be - yet the most beautiful thing is to embrace her true self.
The audience was taken through Shrek's adventures in the two-hour show. In addition to the kind-hearted Shrek, the lovely Princess Fiona, and the chatterbox Donkey, there are also the evil Lord Farquaad, waggish guards, and the main characters from the fairytales, such as Peter Pan, Pinocchio, the Fairy Godmother, and so forth. With their passionate performances, emotive monologues, and beautiful singing, they contributed to a fantastic performance.
On stage, there was a lot of excitement, while off stage, there was a lot of laughter and applause. In the final scene, as the spotlight fell on the audience, Shrek appeared out of nowhere and yelled, "Stop the Wedding!" The audience erupted in applause!
Behind the scenes of a performance are countless rehearsals and hundreds of hours of preparation. Thanks to all of the students and teachers who participated in Shrek the Musical. All of the students worked extremely hard on set design, make-up, costumes, and props. As well as the applause, they have gained valuable performance experience, teamwork skills and, of course, unforgettable memories.
