Student Leadership

At Dulwich, we place great emphasis on developing our students into Worldwise leaders who can make a positive difference in the world.

Student leadership plays a key role in the holistic development of young people, preparing them not only for academic success but also for their future roles in society. It fosters responsibility, self-confidence and the ability to work effectively with others, empowering students to take initiative, develop critical thinking skills and become active contributors to their communities.

DHHQ encourages all students to develop and demonstrate the qualities and characteristics of effective leaders through a range of opportunities.

  • Student Council: organises school activities and addresses issues of concern to students, thereby developing their communication, presentation and organisational skills.
  • House Captains: The house captatins are an integral part of promoting team spirit and camaraderie. They play an important role in fostering a sense of identity and belonging to the school by leading by example and encouraging students to participate in inter-house competitions.
  • Co-curricular activities: In extra-curricular activities such as school sports teams, academic clubs, orchestras, students serve as captains or club leaders, honing their presentation and communication skills.
  • School activities: Leading or assisting in the organisation of school activities such as fundraising events, concerts, lectures, etc. to develop coordination skills and gain experience in event management.
  • EiM Student Leadership Summit: This is a high level cross-age, cross-campus, cross-country and cross-cultural student event with the main purpose of promoting student leadership. The annual event brings together student leaders from different backgrounds to grow together through activities, workshops and exchanges.
